Specific Injuries Experience
As a Senior Community Occupational Therapist and Team Leader, Simone is involved in assessments to ascertain the ongoing and long-term care, therapy and equipment needs of adults with upper and lower limb amputations, orthopaedic injuries including joint replacements, spinal injuries including spinal fractures, neurological conditions (such as stroke, FND, MS, MND, Parkinson’s and Dementia) and terminal and degenerative illnesses. She is responsible for managing their ongoing needs and will work with both adults and children across a wide age range.
Simone also has experience in supporting individuals with mild to moderate brain injury, mental health conditions, chronic pain, internal injuries, pressure sores, and sensory impairment in conjunction with their primary injury/condition.
Employment Profile
Simone currently works as a Senior OT and Team Leader for the Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment (PDSI) Team for South Lanarkshire Council. She maintains her own caseload of complex clients alongside managing the day-to-day running of a busy Community OT service and providing management and support to the team of OTs and OT assistants. Simone is involved in weekly case discussions with her team, offering expertise and attending joint visits routinely.
Simone is responsible for assessing and implementing complex aids and adaptations for those with disability and sensory impairment. Adaptations can range from external rails to more complex home and bathroom adaptations. She is involved across the health and social care partnership for the area and is a budget holder. Joint working with health teams is promoted in her service area, she also works closely with other local authority teams including social work, home care and housing and technical resources.
Simone’s responsibilities also require her to assess, evaluate and implement care assessments and case management for adults with complex needs, assisting in completing self-directed support assessments and making recommendations and reviewing packages of care.
Simone’s hands-on responsibilities also require her to carry out environmental assessments to establish long-term housing needs, including any associated moving and handling requirements and the provisioning of appropriate adaptations and equipment. She co-ordinates and routinely completes assessments to award social housing additional medical based points to ensure health conditions and limitations are accounted for when housing allocations are made.
Simone is an independent Expert Witness with Jacqueline Webb & Co. She has attended numerous case conferences and gave evidence in Court in 2025.
