Specific Injuries Experience
Simon has an extensive background working in community services and is very comfortable implementing interventions within the client’s home environment. This background has led him to have significant experience in managing complex physical disabilities including amputation and complex orthopaedic issues.
Simon works as a Case Manager and holds a large case management caseload consisting of individuals who have sustained wide-ranging complex orthopaedic injuries including upper and lower limb amputations and spinal fractures. Many of his clients have also sustained traumatic brain injury and Simon is very competent in managing the needs of those with cognitive impairment and/or behavioural issues.
Simon is particularly adept at implementing successful aids, equipment and adaptations. In his private Occupational Therapy work he supports a number of clients to regain mobility and independence with innovative equipment and housing solutions.
Simon is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist who qualified in Australia in 2002. Since then he has gained extensive experience working with clients in a variety of health and social care settings in the UK and Australia. He has worked in private practice, rehabilitation centres, local authority settings, community rehabilitation teams and hospitals. He has experience working with clients in a wide range of clinical fields including neurology, acquired brain injury, amputations and orthopaedics.
Simon has worked for many years as a Case Manager. Through this work he has undertaken recruitment and ongoing supervision of care staff, management of complex care situations in the community, facilitating discharge from hospital, sourcing and adapting accommodation for his clients, arranging provisions of specialist equipment, and training carers and personal assistants.
He has extensive experience in both the private and statutory sectors of providing home assessments and design of major and minor home adaptations. He has worked in specialist housing teams and is experienced in working alongside architects and surveyors. Simon also has expertise in recommending specialist equipment and assistive technology to enable his clients to remain active and independent within their homes and communities.
Simon is an Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) qualified moving and handling trainer.
