Specific Injuries Experience
Sara is an accomplished occupational therapist and case manager with over 10 years of experience supporting adults and adolescents (16+) with complex neurological or orthopaedic injuries. Her specialisms include acquired and traumatic brain injury (all severities), cerebral palsy, polytrauma, brachial plexus and spinal fractures.
She has significant expertise in managing the associated challenges her clients may face, such as chronic pain, mental health conditions, and visual or hearing impairments. Sara is also skilled at navigating other secondary issues such as complex family dynamics, challenging behaviours and cognitive impairment (including neurodivergent clients).
Her approach is holistic and evidence-based. Her comprehensive assessments inform tailored recommendations that meet both short- and long-term needs, ensuring clients receive bespoke care, rehabilitation, and equipment that promote independence and optimise outcomes.
Sara coordinates and leads multi-disciplinary teams. She delivers goal-focused plans to achieve timely, effective and cost-efficient rehabilitation outcomes. She has experience with both pre-and post-settlement cases and maintains transparent communication with instructing parties through comprehensive initial needs assessments, regular progress updates, and detailed cost reports.
Employment Profile
Sara’s career as an occupational therapist began in the NHS, spanning adult acute and community rehabilitation, paediatrics, and specialist clinics, including seating and wheelchair provision. After leaving the NHS in 2012, Sara joined the Papworth Trust, leading vocational rehabilitation programmes for adults with severe orthopaedic and brain injuries, supporting clients to return to meaningful occupation and employment where possible.
Since becoming a case manager in 2016, Sara has managed a diverse caseload of adults and adolescents with catastrophic brain injuries and complex orthopaedic trauma. She works closely with clients, families, legal professionals, and a wide range of public, voluntary and private sector organisations to ensure a cohesive, client-centred approach.
Sara is committed to professional development and has facilitated in-house training, provided supervision to other case managers, and regularly attends relevant conferences and study sessions to remain up-to-date with industry developments and best practices. Her experience, clinical knowledge and ability to communicate complex information clearly make her a credible and reliable care expert for legal proceedings.
