Employment Profile
Rebecca has been working as an independent Expert Witness since 2005 and has completed around 390 reports for use in litigation. She has extensive experience of attending experts’ meetings and case conferences and completing all the other follow-up duties associated with working as an Expert Witness. Rebecca has attended Bond Solon Courtroom Familiarisation Days. In 2018, she attended trial at the Royal Courts of Justice for a case on which she was the instructed care expert. She completed further discussions with the defendant care expert in order to assist with settling quantum issues on the case.
Since 2020, Rebecca has also worked as a Case Manager for AJ Case Management providing independent support for clients following personal injury. This has involved working with clients to manage their therapeutic and care needs, including leading the multi-disciplinary team and organising directly recruited and agency packages of care.
In addition, Rebecca works as an Occupational Therapist undertaking a range of assessments and interventions with individuals in their own homes. She works with a diverse client group including neurological, respiratory and orthopaedic clients to achieve their goals, including supporting their equipment and adaptation needs as well as liaising with the social care team to review packages of care.
Between 2006 and 2015 and again from 2018 to June 2024, Rebecca was employed as a Senior Community Occupational Therapist, managing a clinical caseload of adult clients with a range of complex health, social and housing needs within their home environment and community setting. She also undertook complex housing assessments and recommended adaptations for paediatric clients and their families. For part of this time, her role was funded by the local authority, working across the county providing assessments and treatments for complex clients, including children and adults. This gave her the opportunity to work with 6 different localities, as well as overseeing a team of 4 therapists. Her role involved assessment, analysis and implementation of care plans, taking into account individuals’ multi-factorial acute and/or chronic physical needs, and working with their carers when applicable.
From 2015 to 2018 Rebecca worked as an independent Occupational Therapist. She was registered with locum agencies and provided short-term roles as a Senior Occupational Therapist within the community and hospital settings. Within these roles, she was able to practice in a wide range of clinical settings, treating a diverse client group, including those with orthopaedic, surgical, medical and neurological conditions. She was involved in the planning of rehabilitation programmes for clients, including equipment, adaptations and recommending appropriate packages of care within the home.
Since qualifying in 1991, Rebecca has acquired extensive experience within the NHS and private sector in a variety of roles. Her previous posts have included that of Intermediate Care Senior Occupational Therapist (2001-2006) which involved planning discharge packages of care from hospital and rehabilitation as well as equipment provision for a range of orthopaedic, neurological and medical client groups. From 1997 to 2001, she was Head Occupational Therapist, managing a department based in a 350-bed acute hospital. She also carried a clinical caseload of elective orthopaedic clients. Rebecca has worked within the private sector, providing assessment, treatment and discharge planning within the community and private hospital settings.
Between 1994 and 1997, Rebecca worked as a Senior Occupational Therapist within the speciality of trauma and orthopaedics, including elective and trauma-related surgery as well as gaining experience in hand therapy. Prior to this, she gained experience in surgery, general medicine and care of the elderly.
Rebecca is an active member of and has given presentations for the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Conference and Specialist Section Trauma and Musculoskeletal Health as well as for local training purposes. During the course of her work, she has taken an interest in Health and Safety, including infection control.
