Employment Profile
Kate is a Registered Nurse and Advanced Member of BABICM with over 16 years’ experience as a Senior Case Manager specialising in the assessment, rehabilitation and case management of adults and children with catastrophic and complex injuries.
She has particular expertise in acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy, with particular expertise in the complex physical, cognitive, behavioural and psychological consequences of neurological injury, including impaired cognition, reduced insight, challenging behaviours, associated pain and mental health difficulties. Her experience gives her a detailed understanding of how these challenges can affect an individual’s independence, safety, daily functioning and quality of life.
Kate has substantial experience working alongside solicitors, clients, families and multidisciplinary professionals in complex pre- and post-settlement cases. She provides practical, evidence-based recommendations informed by her clinical and case management expertise, with a focus on identifying appropriate care and equipment needs and maximising an individual’s independence.
Her expertise encompasses the assessment, coordination and implementation of complex care packages across Continuing Healthcare, local authority and private funding arrangements. This includes agency and directly employed support teams, together with recruitment, training and ongoing monitoring of care staff and support workers. Her understanding of establishing and managing care packages enables her to consider not only the level of care and equipment required, but also how these can be safely and effectively delivered in practice.
Kate’s background in children’s intensive care, community complex care and specialist healthcare advisory services provides a strong clinical foundation. Her wider experience includes rehabilitation planning, vocational rehabilitation, equipment provision, safeguarding, behavioural management, supported living transitions, education and EHCP planning, palliative care planning and the management of complex family and psychosocial dynamics.
She maintains her professional development through ongoing CPD, providing peer supervision to other case managers, and engagement with current best practice. In recognition of her work, she was nominated for the CMSUK Catastrophic Case Manager of the Year Award in 2025.
