Specific Injuries Experience
Jenny has over 25 years’ experience in neurological rehabilitation and 19 years’ experience focusing on Brain Injury Case Management. She is highly competent in understanding the impacts of Brain Injury on activities of daily living. Her skillset is focused on ‘walking wounded’ clients and challenging behaviour issues following injury. She also has more recently acquired Case Management experience working with clients in persistent disorders of consciousness (PDOC) and severe physical disability arising from brain injury.
Jenny also has experience of supporting clients who have suffered a combination of trauma injuries, including orthopaedic injury and lower limb amputation. She is confident to take these cases in isolation from TBI injury.
Jenny has significant experience in co-ordinating appropriate care and support for these client groups, either employed directly or via agency and including 24/7 support.
Employment Profile
Jenny graduated in 1991 from the University College of Ripon and York, St John and worked with in-patient orthopaedics, elderly rehabilitation, and the community learning disabilities team at the Harrogate NHS Trust.
She then moved to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust at Daniel Yorath House where she was involved in the development of the OT role within this new specialist rehabilitation unit. Jenny also has experience in supporting those in psychiatric hospital settings. She has a wealth of experience within the field of rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions as both an Occupational Therapist and as a Specialist Brain Injury Case Manager. Jenny is a highly experienced clinician with great passion for the field in which she works.
Since leaving her role in statutory services Jenny has been a Senior Case Manager with A Chance for Life Ltd Case Management. Here she predominantly works with those who have suffered brain injury and those who have cognitive and behavioural issues. She provides supervision and mentor support to new Case Managers as part of this role.
She has provided training on Brain Injury and on the Mental Capacity Act and she has participated in the training of students. She has presented at the National OT Conference on safe working and risk assessment in a forensic setting and was on a question panel regarding accessing funds from statutory services at the CMSUK National Conference. Jenny is an active Committee member of the Darlington and District Headway branch and in 2017 Jenny ran a pilot project to provide OT interventions for members of this group. She continues to maintain a regular craft group with the clients attending.
