Specific Injuries Experience
Jenny has over 30 years’ experience in neurological rehabilitation and 24 years’ experience focusing on Brain Injury Case Management. She is an Advanced BABICM practitioner and is highly competent in understanding the impact of brain injury on activities of daily living. Her skillset is focused on ‘walking wounded’ clients with challenging cognitive and behavioural issues following injury. She also has Case Management experience working with clients in persistent disorders of consciousness (PDOC) and severe physical disability arising from brain injury.
Jenny has significant experience in regularly supporting clients who have suffered a combination of trauma injuries over the years; she is happy to report on these if in isolation or in conjunction with a brain injury.
Jenny also supports clients with visual or hearing impairment, pain and mental health issues in addition to their brain injury.
Jenny has significant experience in co-ordinating appropriate care and support for clients, either employed directly or via agency and including 24/7 support.
Employment Profile
Since 2012, Jenny has worked as a Serious Injuries Case Manager with A Chance for Life Ltd Case Management. Alongside her own caseload of complex clients, she has also provided supervision and mentorship support to new case managers.
Jenny predominantly works with clients who have suffered brain injury, many of whom have additional complexities due to behavioural and cognitive issues and difficult family dynamics.
Most of her clients have support packages and Jenny is actively involved in the recruitment and management of both directly employed and agency care teams. It is important to Jenny that the client remains at the centre of the support and she will ensure their capacity to make decisions about it is assessed and incorporated.
As a Case Manager, Jenny has given evidence in Court as a Witness of Fact on more than one occasion. She has also attended Bond Solon’s Courtroom Skills Familiarisation.
Jenny has provided training on Brain Injury and on the Mental Capacity Act and she has participated in the training of students. She has presented at the National OT Conference on safe working and risk assessment in a forensic setting and was on a question panel regarding accessing funds from statutory services at the CMSUK National Conference.
Jenny graduated in 1991 from the University College of Ripon and York, St John and worked with in-patient orthopaedics, elderly rehabilitation, and the community learning disabilities team at the Harrogate NHS Trust.
She then moved to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust at Daniel Yorath House where she was involved in the development of the OT role within this new specialist rehabilitation unit. Jenny also has experience in supporting those in psychiatric hospital settings. She has a wealth of experience within the field of rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions as both an Occupational Therapist and as a Specialist Brain Injury Case Manager. Jenny is a highly experienced clinician with great passion for the field in which she works.
