Specific Injuries Experience
Deena is an accomplished social worker and case manager with a career dedicated to supporting adults with complex physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs following life-changing injury. Her work includes extensive experience with individuals who have sustained brain injuries of all severities and low-level spinal cord injuries.
She often supports vulnerable adults who present with cognitive impairment, challenging behaviour, and mental health difficulties, often within complex family or social circumstances. Deena understands how social, familial and environmental factors interact with injury-related needs and applies this insight to develop practical, person-centred care, equipment and housing recommendations that support engagement, rehabilitation and long-term outcomes.
Deena has significant experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and implementing complex care and support packages. She produces clear, detailed and evidence-based reports for professional panels and funding bodies and is accustomed to working in settings where recommendations are subject to scrutiny and challenge. She is confident in presenting balanced, well-reasoned and proportionate opinions.
She has a strong working knowledge of statutory and private care provision, including local authority processes, funding mechanisms, eligibility criteria and service availability. This enables her to make recommendations that are realistic, implementable and aligned with current systems and resources as clients’ needs evolve.
Deena has a thorough understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Continuing Healthcare principles. Her practice is underpinned by a consistent focus on best-interest decision-making, strengthening her credibility as a care expert witness.
Employment Profile
Deena’s professional background spans a wide range of adult social care and complex needs settings, including discharge planning, child protection, drug and alcohol services, learning disability teams, and community rehabilitation. She spent several years working within a specialist neurorehabilitation unit supporting adults following a brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation or major surgery. In this role, she coordinated multidisciplinary rehabilitation programmes, planned discharges and established care support packages to enable continued rehabilitation in the community.
As Operations Manager for an established case management company, Deena held responsibility for service development, recruitment, safeguarding, auditing and CQC compliance. She implemented a digital care recording system to improve consistency and quality of documentation, delivered compliance training, and organised ongoing staff development. Alongside these responsibilities, she maintained a caseload of clients with complex brain injuries.
Her practice is grounded in extensive experience completing comprehensive needs assessments, analysing medical, functional and social evidence to assess risk, capacity and long-term care requirements. She is highly skilled in translating complex personal and clinical information into structured, reasoned and defensible reports.
Deena maintains a strong commitment to continuous professional development and regularly undertakes industry-relevant training and professional learning to ensure her practice remains current and robust.
