Specific Injuries Experience
Alistair is an experienced Case Manager and Occupational Therapist specialising in the support of adults with complex physical injuries including limb amputations, orthopaedic injuries, spinal fractures, and polytrauma requiring extensive rehabilitation. In his private practice, he predominantly works with clients who have sustained mild to moderate traumatic brain injuries, including post-concussive syndrome, delivering structured, evidence-based interventions to maximise functional independence and long-term outcomes.
He has substantial experience in managing the complex challenges that often accompany serious injury, including cognitive and executive dysfunction, behavioural difficulties, mental health conditions, chronic pain, pressure sores and substance misuse.
Alistair also has experience supporting clients with bowel cancer, stoma care, constipation, and erratic bowel function, including associated symptoms such as bloating, discomfort, pain, lethargy, and mood changes that impact daily functioning. His experience spans acute ward-based care, including Gastroenterology, as well as more recent community-based support.
Alistair adopts a client-centred yet outcome-focused approach, working collaboratively with the client, family, solicitors, insurers and multidisciplinary team to establish realistic goals and provide measurable outcomes.
Drawing on experience across acute hospital, community and private settings, Alistair provides continuity of support throughout the rehabilitation pathway, from early post-injury intervention through to post-settlement and long-term support. He is skilled in undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and in the development, coordination and implementation of bespoke rehabilitation programmes, incorporating therapeutic input, care and support packages, equipment, accommodation, transport solutions, and vocational rehabilitation.
Employment Profile
Before establishing his private practice, Alistair gained extensive experience in both acute hospital and community settings, providing occupational therapy to individuals with a broad range of physical disabilities. He is skilled in conducting detailed functional, cognitive, seating and manual handling assessments, as well as environmental evaluations to support Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications and equipment recommendations.
In his role as a Major Trauma Rehabilitation Coordinator, Alistair managed the rehabilitation pathways for critically injured patients, overseeing assessments, therapy planning, discharge coordination, repatriation and funding applications. A key aspect of this role involved the identification and thorough assessment of traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic amnesia and related cognitive impairments.
Alistair’s combined experience as an Occupational Therapist and Case Manager equips him with a comprehensive understanding of the rehabilitation process, multidisciplinary collaboration, equipment provision and the litigation journey. His commitment to professional development is reflected through regular attendance at industry-relevant training and conferences, ensuring his practice aligns with best practice standards in clinical and legal frameworks.
