Clinical Currency Statement
As at March 2021, I am engaged in the role of Clinical Director for Invictus Complex Care for an average of 100 hours per month.
Specific Injuries Experience
Lena has a focus on working with clients with brain injury and spinal cord injury. She draws on an extensive nursing background combined with complex care senior roles. She is confident in all levels of brain and spinal/spinal cord injury and understands the long-term implications of such injuries and the likely recommendations required.
Lena regularly manages the complex care of clients with tracheostomy and ventilator needs within the home and community setting. She is also experienced in manual handling and pressure care management.
Lena’s clients often have a range of comorbidities which she provides care and support for, including pain, mental health, internal injuries, burns, and visual or hearing impairments.
Lena has a special interest in palliative care and she completed a Bachelor of Science in Specialist Nursing Palliative Care in 2012. She has significant experience in supporting clients and their families with long term chronic and life limiting conditions.
Lena has substantial experience in co-ordinating and implementing the most complex packages of care. She also works closely with those providing the required aids, equipment, and transport and housing adaptations to support an individual’s requirements. Lena’s involvement has included experience of both agency and directly employed care, funded via both CHC and privately funded means, as well as through medico-legal settlements.
Lena is a highly motivated complex care nurse who strives to make a difference to her clients’ lives through facilitating independence and focussing on quality of life. She has a passion for working with individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries including those with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.
Lena is an owner and Governance Director of Invictus Care who provide and facilitate complex care packages for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. She works with clients from both the NHS and those who are self-funded, providing bespoke care packages for all catastrophic/serious injuries. Lena’s clients include those with high dependency needs with tracheostomies and ventilated requirements.
Lena’s extensive complex care background has had a focus on inputting high level care needs. She has worked within several specialist care providers and services. Within these, she is experienced in training staff to provide complex care plans as well as supporting the provision of aids, equipment, and adaptations. Lena has experience with clients who have palliative care needs and those with terminal illness. She has also worked with clients who have visual impairments
