Specific Injuries Experience
Jo is a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) specialising in working with adults and young people (aged 16+) facing various challenges impacting their speech and communication abilities. Her expertise lies in working with individuals affected by acquired or traumatic brain injuries, as well as those with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, motor neurone disease, ataxia and functional neurological disorder. Jo regularly works with those with complex cognitive communication difficulties.
As a specialist SLT, Jo conducts thorough assessments to gauge an individual’s level of impairment, functional strengths and weaknesses, and their personal goals. She excels in identifying, planning and implementing speech and language therapy programmes, collaborating closely with case managers and multi-disciplinary team colleagues to promote individuals’ independence across all aspects of their lives.
Jo possesses extensive knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication options, including text-to-speech, eye gaze systems, voice banking and Smartbox technology. She prioritises effective solutions that accommodate the individual’s physical, visual and environmental needs.
