Specific Injuries Experience
Jessica is a very competent and qualified Occupational Therapist with core experience in community social services, care commissioning and care agency settings. She has particular experience in managing complex manual handling issues and home adaptations for clients in the community, and has specific skills to resource and create more comprehensive support plans.
Jessica has a high level of competency in managing issues with activities of daily living, resulting from physical disability. Specifically, she has experience in supporting complex lower limb amputees, clients with orthopaedic or joint issues, rheumatology and long-term neurological impairments. She is confident in working with adults who have Cerebral Palsy. Jessica is also experienced in supporting those with learning disabilities or ongoing mental health issues.
Employment Profile
With almost 14 years’ experience, across local authority, charitable and commercial settings, Jessica has developed a broad knowledge and experience within physical, learning and mental disabilities. She is a competent communicator and proactive networker, using local community-based services to enable a preventative strength-based approach to meeting needs. Currently, Jessica works as a Senior Practitioner/Occupational Therapist for South Gloucestershire Council, carrying a significant caseload of clients with complex manual handling needs.
Within this role Jessica is tasked with creating and reviewing complex client needs, focusing on their care, equipment and housing needs all with the focus of promoting safety and independence, alongside effective manual handling in the client’s own home and local community.
Prior to this Jessica has experience in commissioning care and support services, including reviewing ‘high cost’ care packages, and also worked in a brokerage position sourcing/identifying relevant care services to be implemented in the future. Her skill set in this area is quite unique for a social service based Occupational Therapist and gives her a particular advantage in sourcing relevant care for clients under her responsibility. Jessica has translated this to her current role through the supervision and guidance of other Occupational Therapists and Social Workers.
Outside of work Jessica is the Group Leader for Yate PANDAS Support Group, offering peer support to families experiencing pre-and post-natal depression and anxiety.
